Fit to Lead sets a structure and framework for medical leadership and management.Underpinned by a set of national standards, Fit to Lead measures the knowledge and skills already in place and defines a learning and development journey unique to each doctor on the programme. The Fit to Lead approach means that the overall needs of both individuals and the NHS can be met through personalised development programmes.
Fit to Lead provides recognition of clinician’s skills, knowledge, experience and development against a nationally agreed set of Standards of Medical Leadership and Management.This recognition will support:
Appraisal of clinicians as medical leaders
Revalidation of doctors as medical leaders
Career progression in leadership and management roles
Reward systems for clinicians in medical leadership roles.
Fit to Lead is a certified programme, assessed to nationally agreed standards of Medical Leadership and Management. The award system comprises of the following three attainment levels:
Certified Medical Manager (CMM)
Advanced Medical Leader (AML)
BAMM Fellow
You will work with a Tutor to achieve these awards or simply to solve the various obstacles that are confronting you personally in your role as a clinical leader in todays service.
