Have you wondered what people actually talk about in management meetings? Would you like to see how the healthcare management process works in real life?
If you are a member of BAMMbino and the answer is yes, then why not think about contacting us to arrange a period of shadowing? Across the country, BAMMbino's older sibling has members and affiliates in management positions in different organisations. If you tell us what you think you'd like to see (be that a Chief Executive in action, a Medical Director or perhaps someone running a regional programme) we'll see if we can put you in touch with someone whom you could shadow for a day or so. We can't guarantee that we can place you with someone in exactly the role you would like to shadow, so think about a few alternatives.
The process will work like this: you contact us giving your details, where you work and live, when would be good to arrange your shadowing for (giving as large a range of dates as possible) and the type of role you'd like to shadow. We will then match that against the BAMM database and contact someone to see whether they could be shadowed and when would be convenient. If the two coincide we will pass both contact details on to the "shadower" and "shadowee" and allow you to make contact.
This arrangement is not meant to become a mentor/mentee relationship (although with the right pair of people it may do), but is designed to allow you a brief glimpse of what goes on at the sharp end of management. This is in effect a taster session and therefore we would hope that your Deanery or Trust would be happy to grant you study leave for the few days that you will be shadowing.
