In order to improve clinical services it is becoming increasingly essential for clinical managers to fully understand and effectively use all the levers at their disposal.  As such, job planning and appraisal are central to the effective operation and delivery of clinical services - in essence ensuring the effective use and delivery of its greatest and most scarce resource - clinical time.

With the approaching introduction of revalidation, in which effective appraisal will play a central part, it has never been more essential to understand how both appraisal and job planning can be used to secure benefits for patients and staff. Feeding into all areas of the delivery of clinical services job planning and appraisal are central to clinical governance, team and individual development, effective service delivery, future service development, and revalidation.

This training will provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to create effective appraisal and job planning systems, as well as to conduct effective appraisal and job planning sessions. It will cover current national guidelines and best practice, the impact of revalidation, as well as outlining the essential elements of effective job planning and appraisal systems.  

Designed to be both interactive and informative this programme is structured to ensure that clinical managers are equipped to deliver on the needs of their patients, organisation, and staff. The training will be delivered by Ben Holmes and Andrew Larkin, who have extensive experience of delivering appraisal and job planning training as part of BAMM's Fit to Lead programme.
