Course Format
Courses in this prospectus are offered in two formats:
• Workshop, which can be delivered in-house within an individual organisation.
• Conference, providing high-level overviews and delivered regionally or nationally
The format is indicated in each course outline. Workshops and Seminars are designed for low delegate numbers, to be informal and interactive, using a range of styles of delivery including lecture, small group discussions, practical examples and case studies. Conferences, which will be run in locations throughout the country, will include high-level speakers, largely drawn from the groups of clinicians and managers who have been working on the generation of the regulatory and implementation processes of revalidation and will be largely in plenary format, with Q&A and two or more break-out sessions.
BAMM Faculty
All of our programmes will be led by members of BAMM’s highly respected medical management faculty. These are drawn from a wide variety of backgrounds, and all have expertise in their fields. Speakers will include experts from the Department of Health’s Revalidation Support Team. Further information about the BAMM team can be obtained by calling the Office on 0161 474 1141.
If you’d like to book more than one module …
If a trust chooses to run more than one module, the second and subsequent modules are available at a discounted rate – the details of this rate will be made available upon booking.
The new regulation and arrangements for revalidating doctors will have a major impact on both clinicians and on the organisations in which they work. Every licensed doctor working in the UK, will be accountable to the General Medical Council through a locally based responsible officer for their conduct and performance. Responsible officers, themselves doctors – senior medical managers – will establish structures and processes within their organisations to provide assurances about every doctor working there. Organisations will need robust and effective medical management structures. Doctors at all levels will need to drive the process. It is therefore crucial that all doctors have a good working knowledge of revalidation, and how it will be delivered. All medical managers – medical directors, associate medical directors, clinical directors, lead clinicians – will require detailed knowledge of the new regulations and how they will impact on the system.
BAMM’s Revalidation Seminar Series is designed for all doctors and their organisations. From prospective responsible officers, through to jobbing clinicians, there is a need for everyone to know about the new requirements and how they will be fulfilled. Consider the structures that are needed and the roles clinical directors and lead clinicians will play – for example in running enhanced appraisal. Consider the information streams that responsible officers will need to make the system work. BAMM’s sessions have been designed to provide high-level, detailed learning and training, specifically for doctors, for senior workforce and HR professionals.
BAMM has been at the heart of the discussions about revalidation, working with the Department of Health, General Medical Council and the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges. BAMM’s core work is to support medical managers and their organisations, whatever their role, in delivering effective revalidation. The support that BAMM is able to provide to prospective responsible officers goes beyond training. BAMM has wide-ranging experience in this field and is well placed to provide specific and tailored inputs, including advice and consultancy.
