 "The Essence of Leadership"

BAMMs New Look SUMMER SCHOOL

11th - 13th June 2008

City Centre Marriott, Leeds

Multiple Strands, Multiple Themes, Multiple Pathways ... One Summer School.

Create your own personalised learning experience.

Now that the booking form has been made available we expect to see a rush of bookings into the BAMM Office and presumably to the main hotels as well, so book your place quickly to avoid disappointment.

We are really excited about Summer School for 2008. In response to the success we have been experiencing in our smaller more workshop oriented programmes we've played with the format a little in order that we might strengthen the learning experience for you and we're convinced we've created something a little bit special.

The Essence of Leadership

Clinical leadership is at the very core of making the NHS work. Wherever you look - whether it's at direct improvement  of service for the patient, the Darzi reforms, Payment by Result, minimising clinical risk or World-class commissioning; none can be done without excellent clinical leadership.

This is the song that BAMM has been singing for 18 years. Finally, the crucial, deal-breaking impact of clinical leadership has been recognised throughout the service at every level.

To celebrate, BAMM presents its new-look Summer School, giving you the chance to build your own programme from 5 detailed strands. We know you have your own specific areas of interest and needs for development. We know that the time you have for learning, developing and nurturing your networks is limited - and very precious. We make sure your time spent at the Summer School is packed with information, skill development and opportunities to share experience, advice and support, with a lively, robust group of like-minded clinical leaders.

Whether you are established in your leadership role, aspire to take on one of the wide range of leadership roles available to you or are simply interested in exploring what leadership is all about - The Essence of Leadership is for you.

We are offering a series of high-impact themes - from which you can build your own programme over the 3 days. We have a set of provocative speakers lined up to bring all the strands together, whilst each theme will be expored in workshops and masterclasses.

Sir Muir Gray, Chief Knowledge Officer of the NHS, will challenge all of us in our ideas and understanding of the NHS.
Peter Donnelly, Director of Classification and Costings, Department of Health, will give us his unique perspective on PbR.

We are focusing our workshops on:
  • Reconfiguring Services for Patients - the Darzi Review of the NHS
  • Building Fabulous Organisations - Led by Mike Farrar, Chief Executive, NHS Northwest
  • Systems, Knowledge and Finance
  • World Class Commissioning
  • Pioneer Programme - Specifically designed to provide challengin, tailored, top-level development for those who have "seen it all" in the NHS

Also featuring keynote presentations from:

Professor Keith Grint, Professor of Leadership, Cranfield University

Professor Beverley Alimo-Metcalfe, Professor of Leadership, Bradford School of Management
